distorted movies avh-p5700dvd

RE: Pioneer avh-p5700dvd I'm looking for advice and opinions on what could be causing movies to display improperly, ie: rolling picture(from side to side), very dark and shadowy black & white with occasional blips of red & green around the edges, split frames. It's installed in an 80's model chevy caprice classic that had a malfunctioning amp(1000watts) hooked up to a sub in the trunk, which was replaced. The head unit itself is a power hog and the bad amp drained the battery within minutes, so after exhausting all picture adjustment options, I'm thinking that the car just doesn't have enough power to support video display. Everything else works great and there are absolutely no other display problems, and the wiring was checked over triple times, but the battery in the car is beat and needs replaced. Am I right, or is the HU damaged?the amateur expert :)

Did you change the Pal/NTSC setting by some chance?double-secret reverse-osmosis speaker-cone-induced high-level interference distortion, Its a killer

I reset the system back to factory settings but it didn't fix the problem. The HU worked fine in the last car it was in and I didn't see any option for those particular settings, unless there's a switch on the bottom of the unit to flip for what region it's used in. I've gone over the manual numerous times and it claims it's set for region 1 and isn't compatable with any other region code (hence, you shouldn't be able to change those settings). the amateur expert :)

I doubt very much it's a power issue.  More likely defective Pioneer.  Probably time for warranty repairs.Support the12volt.com

I've been running a post in car audio also where we've been going over some possibilities and details, and it's pretty much boiling down to pulling the system again and running a bench check on it to see if it's defective. That will eliminate the car as an issue and should give a definitive answer and direction to take. I'm trying to stay positive about it although the odds are looking bleak, but I'll be sure to post the results for anyone who's interested. Thanks guys!the amateur expert :)
