We've installed a bunch, don't like it. Easy to use, but to me if you can't use the CD player and watch the map screen at the same time it's worthless. You can load a route into it, then remove the map disc, then install a CD to listen to but if it were mine it would drive me crazy. You could get a 6 disc and the D3 for about the same price as the D2 and solve this, but heck you might as well get the D2 then so you can watch movies(which you can't do at all on the D3)...

Cool unit I like the color customization among other things. Don't like that they did away with the automatic dimming. Easy install and an awesome price point piece that's for sure. Great for us poor installers that can't afford the Z2 ;)

You can watch movies on it. I have installed several so far and all my customers like them, esspecially for the price of the unit. Its kinda plain jane and i would sooner have my 6800DVD being I dont need nav, but for the money its a great piece. Like mentioned above though, I would mate a changer with it just for ease of use.

FORGET EVERYTHING THE GUYS SAID IN THE SECOND POST.

the avic d1 and d2 cannot play dvd movies.  the d3 can and is just as easily "used" as the z1.  its menus look much cheaper though.

i put flushed one in my buddys dodge ram and the good thing about no motorized face is you can really make it look flush.  now he wants another for his 300c.

You CAN watch dvd on a D3, and YES they can be bypassed, and NO it's not a simple ground on the parking brake, but very close. :)

I forgot to talk about that whole not being able to watch  the ma and listen to a CD at the same time.  Your better of just getting a video ipod anyway.  You can also get the newer iPod interface (straight up cable) the new interface has a MUCH better look than it's predecessor, and it will also stream the video from theiPod to the screen.  Forget Cd's, they're being phased out like tapes.
