I have a pontiac montana '99 that I am installing a pyle flip down monitor/dvd into.  I've read the intersting discussion about the various methods for mounting the monitor and will probably go with the 'board glued on the roof' method since I'm not familiar with how to screw the board into the cross beam (which I have) since there are no holes to screw the board into.

MAIN QUESTION:  My wiring diagram shows that I need a constant 12v power supply (battery) and an ignition 12V supply.  The diagram shows these wires red and yellow respectively, however, the only wires I have going to my dome light is a purple wire and a gray wire.  These wires offshoot from a bundle of wires running down the side roof of the van with other purple and gray wires as well as a black wire.  So, how to I power my dvd monitor?

Run the wire to the igntion switch for power, that's how it's usually done...

The existing wires are only for the dome light. Run your video wires to the ignition harness inside the driver's dash. Hook the yellow wire to the thick red wire and the red wire from the video to the thick brown wire. You must install fuses close to these connections to protect the vehicle. If you want to use screws, use self tapping ones, but be very careful that you use the correct length of screws so you don't go through the roof.
