I'm new here, you guys sound like you seriously know what your talking about......(thank god)

I've got a 1999 Eclipse GSX and I got a Pioneer N3 installed today....everything is cool but when I turn it up all the vocals cut out and all you here are my 10" subs. the vocals won't come back till the car is turned off for sometime then will cut out again when back on.

I've got infinity speakers on the inside runned by factory amp

2 10" infinity perfect subs runned by MTX 6001 amp with Stinger 1.2 Fared Cap

The same thing happened with my Pioneer 6500, but I also had a cheap sony deck and it never happend to it I could turn it all the way up with no problems.

You said you are using the factory Infinity Amplifier. How is your deck supplying signal to the amp?

Speaker wires or Preamp Level?

I'm told my Factory amp is bypassed (whatever that means) I'm also told their might be a speaker shortage somewhere in the car thats why the deck shuts itself down, I'm not sure. I was told Pioneer decks are very senstive to wire shortages versus Sony decks thats why the sony never gave me problems....is this true could this be the problem?

is it only at high volume or does it happen when you hit a bump? You could have a speaker lead grounding out which would cause the internal amp on the pioneer to cut out, assuming that the factory amp is not in use. If the factory amp is not bypassed then you could be providing too strong of a signal to the factory amp. You can test my first guess out with a multimeter by connecting one lead to ground and probing your speakers wires with the other with the DMM set to continuity.

Yeah it only cuts out when I set it to a middle or high volume......bumps don't matter and when it happens the deck does not beep when I hit the buttons and the ladies voice on the Navigation does not work...then when the deck is off for 10-30 mins the deck works and then it all happens all over again.

I've got an appointment at an install bay at the end of this week I'll make sure to print this forum and show the installers your ideas......
