Under the hood, the big fuse box on the drivers side. There's two harnesses with plugs at the bottom edge closest to the motor. The plug nearest the firewall, GREEN / WHITE wire....

Mike, I have hear a few variations of this.  1.) VSS wire comes from the ECM drivers side close to the radiator - 72 pin connector - yellow and black wire at PIn 57.    2 INstallers I spoke to told be the yellow and black wire, and I have seem some internet posts saying green and white.  I have a 2007 Avalanche.

Your post which says the green and white one cokming from the fuse box.   I am confused - will both work or is one wrong?

Thanks is advance for you help.

My turn by turn guidance in the OEM nav that I installed doesnt start - i am assuming that it may be because of the vss wire.  It does follow me on the map.

the green white wire is correct, I tried both because I also had both answers, but mike is right, go to the GREEN / WHITE wire at the fuse box

That would explain why the connection to the yellow and white wire was not working.   Since your post, I have changed to the green and white wire from the fuse box.  I really appreciate the information.  Thanks!!!
Pete
