eclipse avn5510 in 2001 f250 problems

I have the unit installed and thought I had the reverse and VSS wires figured out, but the reverse wire I used (BK/PK in drivers kick panel, actually near the bottom of the front drivers door sill) and the VSS (GR/BK directly to the right of computer box beneath the drivers dash on the firewall) don't seem to be functioning. I know the reverse wire isn't so I unhooked it, but the camera does work in maual. The setup shows no speed and says it's studying. I drove 20 miles on cruise on the interstate. It is tracking fine, but the VSS data is still studying. I tried a new tire cal and no difference. Any help on wiring would be much appreciated. Sorry for the long-winded post. But the unit looks great in the Platnum Edition Ford! Thanks. --mark

Reverse wire : Try the relay box under the hood. VSS: Make suer that you have the proper GRAY/BLACK wire and test with a DMMJeff

what readings should I expect? The info I found says 8000? I guess I can hook to it and drive and look for a voltage or resistance change? Thank you for the prompt response.

Good news! I climbed around and found the two elusive wires. Here is what I found in case anyone has similar issues. I picked up the reverse wire ar the drivers side of the transmission shift box under the truck. It actually looks more BLK/NIOLET than BLK/PINK but anyway. I found the VSS in a bundle going straight up toward the instrument cluster. Strangely enough, the GREY/BLK was pulled a little from the bundle already. Drove the truck around and the VSS was studying, showing speeds, the GPS was a little off from time to time, but after about 10 minutes, it said complete, and the GPS seems to track more accurately / smoothly than before. That may be in my head though. Thanks for the response and the other info on here. I have used it numerous times and feel I have a resource that alot of ppl are mkissing out on when installing car electronics.
