I am having a weird problem. I just installed an AVIC-N4, I ran some of the cables through the driver side kick panel. I now have an issue that when my left turnsignal is on, the brakes lights, on the driver side of the car dims as the turn signal turns on and brightens as it shuts off.
When I press the brake while the turn signal is on (still only on the left turnsignal) it acts like normal for a few blinks and then it all of a sudden blinks very very fast as if I had a buld out, when I depress the brake, its all gone.
When I put the car in reverse and hold the brake down, I get a very light glow coming from my left turn signal indicator on my dash.
Now for the specifics:
2003 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Automatic
Alarm is a Viper 971xv
I really think I may have just bumped something and now it is shorting or something but I am not sure what or how I should go about trouble shooting this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and if you could please maybe provide me with a list of wires (colors) that I should be looking for. thanks.

yea  you obviously have a short. Pull off the kick panel and check to see if you sliced into any wires. Does the problem also happen when you arm the vehicle? Also leave your vehicle off and put on your 4-ways. See if it does it then also. You said that it only does this with the driverside brake light?

I don't see any visibily sliced wires but its quite a mess down there for ill have to look when I have some more light. The problem does not happen when I arm the alarm or turn on my 4-ways with the car off. and yes, only the driverside brake is affected. the right side works fine and has no problems with either the brake lights or the turn signal only the drivers side.

well I just did some more looking and playing around. it appears to happen with the parking lights as well as the brakes (same lights though) so if I shut off the lights turn on my left turn signal, and step on the brake all is fine, but if I turn on my lights and repeat, I get the fast click turn indicator and the alternating turn signal/lights.
This alarm is over 3 years old and has been working fine, so I know its something that was bumped, the new deck shouldn't cause something like this as I don't think there is any wiring for any of the left indicators in the center of the car.

You really need to check the ground wire of the light socket itself.  If it is a dual element bulb that share the same ground.  If it loses ground each bulb will seek ground through the other element  hence turn signal light on with foot on brake.

I was thinking about that last night, as I ran the GPS Antenna wire through the boot of that light. I will check when it gets light and report back.

Just wanted to say thanks for the help, found out that when I removed the rear tail light the harness was loose and was causing a ground short, re tightened it and everything works as it should now. thanks!
