I have a 1999 Ford Explorer 4DR 5.0 V8 and a Python 1400XP Remote Start
I have found the wiring diagram for the vehicle and the wiring diagram for the unit itself. However I need some clarifying questions
This unit was previously installed on a 2005 Ford Ranger my wife decided to total into a tree.
1) The heavy gauge wiring on the module there are 2 im confused about
Purple (+) STARTER OUTPUT TO STARTER (STARTER SIDE) and
Pink (+) OUTPUT TO IGNITION CIRCUIT and the car has
Starter     RED / Light Blue      Ignition Switch Harness
Ignition    Lght GREEN/ Purple   Ignition Switch Harness
Ignition 2 Gray / YELLOW      Ignition Switch Harness
Ignition 3 Gray / YELLOW        Ignition Switch Harness
I need to know where the purple and pink wire go.
2) Neutral Safety Switch wire on the module is BLK/WHT
The previous installer has it running to a toggle switch and then down connecting to the ground wire.
On this website it shows this for the car:
Neutral Safety Wire RED / Light Blue (+) but gives no location
I need to know should I leave it hooked up the way it is? If so do I need access to this toggle switch? If not should it be off or on? What does it do? Or should I hook it up to this mysterious RED / lght blue wire that I have no idea where it is located?
3) The door locks on the module show this:
GREEN (-) LOCK (+) UNLOCK
BLUE (+) LOCK (-) UNLOCK
this website shows the car has this
Door Lock       Pink / YELLOW (-)      Driver's Kick Panel
Door Unlock      Pink/Light Green (-)    Driver’s Kick Panel
Driver's Lock       Pink/Black (+)       Driver's Door Harness
Driver's Unlock      RED / Orange (+)       Driver's Door
Passenger Unlock Pink/Green (-)          Driver's Kick Panel
I need to know which wire the blue and green wire hooks up to
4) I do not the button anywhere here to keep it running and remove the keys....I remember this on the ranger it was a small little button but I need to know where the wire is on the module and where it needs to go on the car if any
5) I ordered the 556u bypass module and I have a spare key for it. I also need to know how to hook it up (have not received it yet) But im sure i will have questions and I dont want to have to create a new topic for that!!!
Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated thanks!!!

Purple (+) STARTER OUTPUT TO STARTER (STARTER SIDE)
This wire goes to:
Starter     RED / Light Blue      Ignition Switch Harness
The reason it says "starter side" is because it was meant to be installed using a "starter disable relay". Starter Disable Diagram
Pink (+) OUTPUT TO IGNITION CIRCUIT
This wire to:
Ignition    Lght GREEN/ Purple   Ignition Switch Harness
Check to see if the alarm has a second IGNITION output. If so thats where the gray / YELLOW ignition 2 and 3 go.
Both of the above are for the REMOTE START operation.
Neutral safety can be used the same way it was on the previous vehicle. This is an automatic transmission right?
Door locks:
Door Lock       Pink / YELLOW (-)      Driver's Kick Panel
Door Unlock      Pink/Light Green (-)    Driver’s Kick Panel
The other wiring is for directly activating the lock actuator. does not apply to your install.

4) I do not the button anywhere here. . . .
I don't understand this...
5) The 556u will have instructions with it. fairly basic.
I think the only wire going to the alarm is the (-) when running which i think is a blue/white from the alarm. Check your manual for details.

What does the neutral safety switch do? Do I need to be able to access it or just leave it under the dash??? Yes the car is an automatic.
4. What I mean is that there is no wire that goes to a button. I swore there was a button you could press remove the keys and keep the car running. I'm not sure what it was actually called....maybe it didn't have this....????

The switch is simply a means to disable the RS. If the switch is off the RS won't work. This is good when someone is working under the hood to prevent the motor from turning over.

You can press the button on the remote while the car is running to engage the RS, then remove the keys and get out. The RS will stay on...

The "neutral switch" is to let the alarm system know that its "safe" to attempt to remote start. If the switch is off, the alarm will not remote start. Same thing with the hood pin. if the hood pin is grounding it will not allow a remote start.
Mike is right.
You may engage the remote start while the car is on and then you can remove the key and the car will stay on.

[QUOTE=icearrow6] Purple (+) STARTER OUTPUT TO STARTER (STARTER SIDE)
This wire goes to:
Starter     RED / Light Blue      Ignition Switch Harness
The reason it says "starter side" is because it was meant to be installed using a "starter disable relay". Starter Disable Diagram
so do i need this relay or no?
Pink (+) OUTPUT TO IGNITION CIRCUIT
This wire to:
Ignition    Lght GREEN/ Purple   Ignition Switch Harness
Check to see if the alarm has a second IGNITION output. If so thats where the gray / YELLOW ignition 2 and 3 go.
the 1400xp shows there is a
PINK/WHITE (+) OUTPUT TO SECOND IGNITION/ACCESSORY CIRCUIT and
GREEN STARTER INPUT FROM IGNITION (KEY SIDE)
Do either i need to connect any of these wires to the extra gray / YELLOW ign 2 and 3 in the car?
Door locks:
Door Lock       Pink / YELLOW (-)      Driver's Kick Panel
Door Unlock      Pink/Light Green (-)    Driver’s Kick Panel
So pink / YELLOW to grn and pink/ lght grn to blue correct?
I just wanted to thank everybody so much for all the information here. I am a total newbie at this...i have installed plenty of car audio things but i have never attempted something like this!!! Im sure I will have more questions during the install but for now these last clarifying questions is all i have!!!!

1. No the relay is actually built in to the unit. Just cut the starter wire (RED / Light Blue      Ignition Switch Harness ) and wire the:
Purple from the alarm TO STARTER (STARTER SIDE on the car)
GREEN from alarm to STARTER INPUT FROM IGNITION (KEY SIDE of the car)
2. PINK/WHITE (+) OUTPUT TO SECOND IGNITION/ACCESSORY CIRCUIT will go to the ignition 2 of the car.
3."So pink / YELLOW to grn and pink/ lght grn to blue correct?"
yes.

Strip the wires, solder the connections, shrink tube afterwards.
You will have to cut the started wire.
good luck
