On models without the factory alarm plug you will need to locate the ZV module. The ZV module is located behind the glove box towards the right side just to the right of the ABS control module. The ZV module is a black plastic box. To access remove the ABS control module WITHOUT unplugging it. Locate the white plug on the ZV module. All of the pins are numbered. Add wires to pins 24 and 25. Pin 24 is lock and pin 25 is unlock.

There is a factory alarm plug on all production models starting on 1-92. The alarm plug is a black 12 pin plug located just behind the glove box. It is mounted with the pins facing you atop a vent just to the left of the body computer. Other wires at the alarm plug are: 12V- RED / white; Accessory- PURPLE / white; Siren- BLACK/ blue; Ground- BROWN / orange. Do not use the power sources at the alarm plug to operate high-current devices. The other side of the siren wire is mounted in a 2 pin plug at the passenger rear corner of the engine compartment. The other wire in the plug is a brown ground wire. DEI recommends attaching the siren at this point.

I just did two of these yesterday, one had the factory alarm plug so it was a breeze, the other did not and I couldn't get them to work with the ZV module so I had to use a five wire setup on the lock and unlock wires on the ZV module, I believe one was white and the other was blue/white. Good luck. 1992 BMW 325i door locks -- posted image.
