I need a programming guide for an already installed valet 551t that a customer bought used in a jeep grand cherokee.I can get it to crank but it acts like the tac sence doesn't work. local DEI dealer wont work with the customer becouse it doesn't use a DEI alarm to control it....politics..

Plug in a momentary switch to the small 2 pin blue port on the 551t, start the car, within 5 seconds hold down the switch until the led on the 551t lights steady. If it does not light then the tach wire is not connected properly. Or the tach signal is too low, there is an internal jumper to change the threshold, DEI says this is common on Dodge/Chrysler vehicles.

Thank you for the replies to my question but apparently this is a different Valet 551T, perhaps just a door lock that was trying to be used as an alarm (?) go figure. Because this little black box does not have an led, no 2 pin blue port, does not have anything except a 12 pin plug on one side and a 5 pin plug on a second side. There is also an internal jumper that has 4 on-off switches. Any news on this would be great, thanks

That is an older model, I do not have a book for it here, but if I remember right.
There is a red loop under the door inside...that has to be connected, when you start the car you flip switch 1 I believe ON then if the led on the dash comes on flip it off and the tach is learned. Look on the bottom of the unit to see if the dips are listed there. I am not positive on which switch but you wont hurt anything by flipping them.
Hope this helps.
