I would like to know if i can keep the stock in dash 6 cd changer and somehow add another amp or replace one of them in order to get better sound with the factory deck.  If possible is there wire harnesses i could use in order not to cut too many wires. i was hoping to install 2 10" subs inthe car with a 800 w amp.  THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP

You can use a line out converter to keep the OEM deck and add an amp to power better speakers & subs.

The LOC ties into your speaker wires and this converts the speaker output into a RCA signal. You can get it at any electronics shop or automotive store that has a car audio section.

No. The signal that you are tapping into has not hit the factory amps yet if you run it between the HU and the 1st factory amp. That signal then gets split between the 1st amp, and whatever amp you install, then amplified. So you can keep the original speakers, and add your own subs. I have an '02 stang that I completely ripped apart and installed my own system. The Mach460 was good, but no where close to what I have now! Here's some links to help you with the system (location, function, etc...)

Got a question about this, I know now where the two amps are in the back (have a 99 convertible). What I need to know are the following:

I do split the signal before the hit these amps, correct?

And what color are the wires that I am spliting off of (+/-)?

Well it depends what level signal is going to your converter.  If the converter is a hi-level (speaker-level) to low-level RCA converter, which it probably is, then you'll tap in to the wires AFTER they've gone to the amplifier.  In other words, between the amp and the speakers.  I forgot the exact coloring of the wires but I know you can find it in one of these pdf files.  http://www.flemworld.com/95/MachSch/RadioDiagrams.ZIP

I used this site a long time ago for an install and the diagrams were a lifesaver.

Let me get this straight.  I will split the signal after the wires have gone into the amp with the LOC? Didn't the guy above you say before?  I thought I would want to split it before so I can run it to the amp I will be installing which will power my 2 subs.

As for the wire coloring, I think I can figure that out tomorrow on my own, I just briefly glanced at it this evening.

Like esmith69 said, it depends on what type of converter you are using.
If you want RCA input into the amp, you would want a Line Out Converter (converts High Level signal to Low Level signal used by RCA's) like this one LOC
This gets installed between the OEM amp and speakers like esmith69 said.
What I was referring to before was an OEM converter that allows you to match the gain of the HU output to the input level required by High Level input amps. This one gets installed between the HU and the amp. It's usually used when installing an aftermarket HU but keeping the factory amps. I have seen it used before though when keeping the factory HU and replacing the factory amps with different High Level input amps.
In your case, I would suggest using the Line Out Converter
