The Big3 upgrade (a sticky at the bottom of the forums page) and a new battery might take car of you.

caps are useless, they are for show IMO

The only time to use caps is for high-powered SPL comps, where the alternator is plenty large for the system to begin with. Adding a cap to a system with an alternator of insufficient size will only tax the alternator more, causing it to fail prematurely.
