2 10 alpine type r's

My Brother in Law is looking at putting two (10" possibly 12") subwoofers into his 2009 Toyota Corolla. From the information provided there will be .86 cubic feet per chamber. Will .86CF per chamber be adequate for two 10" Alpine Type R(sealed configuration of course). Would this be too small for two 12" type R's? I know there are a million other speakers out there, but i find these to be a really really good bang for the buck. Im pretty much sold one these speakers(for him) just not too sure if 10" or 12" would be best. Im guessing with the dimensions listed the 10" would be the best choice, but the Alpine website claims the following: sealed box volume range for 10" apline type R .5-.8 cubic feet sealed box volume range for 12" alpine type R .7-1.0 cubic feet. Thanks for the time and help. If anyone can suggest a decent amplifier to run with two subs(preferably 1 ohm stable as i plan to get two 4ohm speakers.) Thanks again, Kris

If he can swing it, tell him to get an Alpine PDX 1.1000.  Also has a regulated power supply so you won't have to run it a 1ohm to get full power from it.  Also I think he'll be very happy with type r's.  I have not heard another sub in it's price range that sounds better. 

I do agree for the money that he will love these. My concern is the volume. Ive heard these ported only in a 1.25CF box and they sounded loud(but loud is not the key, quality is). Im debating on helping him get the fullest out of his setup. Would the two 12" or two 10" R's be better suited in the .86 CF box? Ill look into the amp you provided. I cant edit yet so my next question is what people think of the Kenwood mono blocks. Can i use two of these to power the subs individually? Im thinking either the kenwood KAC-9104D or the KAC-8104D Im getting back into the game since ive been away for a couple years kris

I like some of kenwoods products but their amps aren't all that great. You could do a two amp setup if you want but it isn't really necessary.  There are plenty of true 800-1000w rms amps out there that could get the job done.  I like the pdx series because they are small, stackable, and I have had good experience with alpine in general.  I have two R 12's in a sealed box and I'm very happy with the SQ and I think that he will be as well.  I would say that .86 per sub would be pushing it for the 12's.  I've actually never heard a ported type R but I'm going to be building a slot port box for a single type R 12 for my friend very soon and I'm looking foward to hearing it. 

What do you mean it would be "pushing it"? Would the chamber be too small, too large? If its too small then opting for the 10" might be the best route(which he will have no problem with). Wow, i feel so informed. Thank you for telling me they sound like CRAP in sealed enclosure. Without that single statement and ZERO information backing it i would have just gone out and purchased the exact setup mentioned.
