I just installed my alarm/rs. 2008 Toyota Tacoma DC 4x4. Installed the RS-900 with the idata ADS-TBSL-KO using the data link cable. It doesn't program. I have tried resetting it, and re programing. According to the manual there's not many wires to hook up. A ground, Keysense, Data cable, and the code and txct. It starts fine with the key in switch, but without the key, it just cranks. When cranking I checked the status light, it was off. The book shows "module diagnostics during start... LED off......Invalid Ground when running status from RS" The ground out when running wire isn't used when using the data cable.
What is wrong?

Is the firmware version 1.5 or 2.0?

You need to hardwire it. We have had so many issues with the data wire it isn't funny. Hardwire it before you try any other fixes.

Has it been recently flashed? The version out now(V2) wires differently than the old version. If you didn't need to cut the code wire to connect it you are wired for V2.

I don't see a firmware # on it or the box.
Here's what it says on the box:
P/N & SW   ASS-TBSL-KO
HW ADS-TB (16)
Guide 415
Date 2009-2-19
t/c XOEEDB66B7

Didn't need to cut any wires on my vehicle according to the wiring instructions. Toyota Tacoma is Type 2. If I hard wire it, there is only three connections, 12v+, Ground, and the Ground out when running.I'll try that.

sounds like you need to flash the module if you haven't yet.  To flash the module requires the USB flasher.
