hifonics amps vs planet audio?

wow, no love lost for Hifonics. i see this same name bashing on a drum forum lol. i totally agree watts are NOT all created equal. there's a reason some name brand high end amps cost so much. just because you can't detect distortion as easily on a sub amp doesent mean it doesnt exist. ~'m sort of glad there are so many mfg. offering "good enough" amps today. many years ago you had very little choices and those 250 watt 2 channels wern't cheap ! but those 250's were beasts... when all is said and done... clean is king.Still learning

Well then on top of the DIRTY power they do make. You have to look at the inflated numbers. Out of the so called 1600rms hifonics amp you will only see 1200rms maybe if your lucky 1400rms. So you are actually getting what you pay for. Cheap build quality and inflated numbers. I would rather spend a bit more and have clean power that is underrated and will make the power is says and more.

suggestions? i would like to stay around $400 for a sub amp and would like 1000rms or more @ 1ohm. can this be done with out me geting a "trash" amp?? Before you see the light, you must die!!

 taking j.reed's advice and looking at the audioque line. the AQ1200D is $250 shipped from audioque. is that a good(er) brand? lol. what or who else should i look in too? set me on the path to enlightenment.Before you see the light, you must die!!

If your getting a Fi BTL for your self you may consider getting the AQ2200 and giving the Hifonics to the wife :) think its $389 shipped.

the aq1200d  is for the wifes 2x12'' type R's. i am thinking about swapping out the bxi2610 with the aq2200. ain't had any probs out of the bxi2610, but i would like a better amp! i payed $389 for the bxi. i wish i knew about audioque before i bought the hifonics! ohwell, 389 ain't a lot to pay for good power like that. so i might just get the audioque 2200 soon for myself!! that is after i get my btl!!
