I am installing a viper 5901 in my 2006 toyota 4runner and I have a few questions. I have a print out for wiring and color codes for this vehicle and is helping a lot. Here are a few questions and trouble i am coming across. I am hoping someone can help.
1. I am trying to hook up the door triggers but i am stumped because according to the wire print out it says "Left Front Door Trigger" purple / YELLOW (-) BECU top plug, pin 12. Well i cant figure out what that wire is doing!
But under that in the wiring print out is tells me individual door trigger wire codes. I found all them but i dont know how to hook them up because for all 3 doors except the driver door, i get continuity when door opens, but the driver door i am getting 0 volts when door is open and 12 volts when closed. I would figure all the doors would be the same, right???
2. I am stuck at the Dome light supervision. I found the wire according to the wiring chart, but i am getting 7 ohms when the light is off and 79.3 ohms when the light is on. How would i hook this up to the dome light supervision 200mA output?
3. I am stuck at the door lock. According to the wiring print out: power lock - blue wire - (- polarity). Power unlock - green wire(double pulse) - (- polarity). On the alarm i only have 2 wires: Blue = (+) lock, (-) unlock, and green = (-) lock, (+) unlock. how to hook this up?
I hope someone can give me some insight this. I am only trying to do the alarm part first, then get into the remote start part of it. I have been reading alot and the remote start part seems easier then these.. lol

OK you are over thinking this. First look at the vehicle wiring section of this site. Then :-
Door contacts, based on Euro Toyota experience, the dome light shuts down when the doors are locked, thus all you need is the Viper's green to the colour that with your DMM to a constant 12V+, stays at 12v+ on door open/door close goes down to 0V+ on door lock.
Again, take your DMM set to 1Kohm or less, 1 side to ground and probe the driver's kick panel. ! wire will lock, 1 wire will unlock driver's door and 1 wire will unlock other door (s) alternatively a double pulse to first unlock wire to do all doors. From 5901 use either green - lock, blue - unlock or also the secondary unlock wire, I believe its light blue and connect in order. You will need diodes inline with the last 3 wires mentioned, 1N4004 bands toward the 5901. I'm sorry I'm not explaining myself too well here but it's all very simple, BUT not a DIY job.

Sorry, How you wrote this was confusing... Your right i am probably over thinking... I usually do. One thing though that makes sence I think you are saying that i dont need the "dome Light Supervision" because that automatically comes on and off when the door locks are actuated.  I do have that wiring guide, it came with my exxpesskit pkall.

I think i am good with the door locks. dont know what i was looking at late last night... lol

I am slightly confussed with the door triggers still. I understand that the 3 doors are (-) triggers and require diodes so they dont feedback to each other. I have them and understand that. The problem I am having is that the driver door is for some reason not a (-) trigger. It have produces 12V instead of a ground. So would i hook this one wire to the vipers (+) trigger input and the others 3 doors with diodes to the vipers(-) trigger input? This makes sence, but just weird how the driver is different from the rest. I probed all the wires in all the 3 BECU plugs too...

I know, I was confusing myself! All I was trying to say is that I'm assuming there's a domelight delayed shutdown on the vehicle but if you lock it either with factory remote or key this will shut down the domelight immediately (or within 1 second or so). If that's the case forget separate door triggers, there's built-in domelight supervision and the domelight itself will have either 2 wires and a grounded case or three, 12V+ constant, 12V- constant (or ground) and a wire that goes to ground when the doors are opened. This is all you need to do, connect the green door trigger from the Viper to the wire that goes to ground on opening the door.

That sounds like a good idea! i will check to see it that happens. I do remeber a 3 wire ribbon type wire that that i tested and thats where i got the ohms reading from. So probably one of the others will do what you are saying. I will have to try... Thanks Yeah i really didnt want to run seperate triggers and wanted to use one wire that did all that.

1- your info is incorrect. The purple / YELLOW is an all door trigger and is the only one you need for all 5 doors. It is acually the door ajar light wire and is on the right side of the BCM next to the steering column. There are 3 plugs on the side and it is the top plug, no diodes needed.

2- Howie is right, the dome will come on when you unlock anyway.

3- the unlock is not actually a double pulse, or at least you don't want it. If  your Viper has a separate 2nd unlock wire on a separate plug you can connect this to the first unlock. The 1st unlock press will unlock the drivers door and disarm, and the second unlock press will unlock the rest.....

that purple / YELLOW wire I checked and I got a constant +12V out of it and I couldn't get it to change with any of the doors opening. That's why I was doing the individual door option before of the suggestion of tryin the dome light thing as mentioned above. I tested ever wire in those 3 plugs. I will have to check again and also verify with that door ajar light goes out.
I only have one seperate plug coming out of the alarm with 2 wires for the lock/unlock. I wasn't sure what I was looking at originally. I don't think I will have a problem with the locks. I was reading something wrong. I think I have a newer viper 5901 because the install directions I found online are slightly different. There are less plugs on on my model witue more wires in each.

Unless your door ajar light on the dash doesn't work the purple / YELLOW should go to neg when a door is open. It's the only purple / YELLOW in all 3 plugs on the side of the BCM...

Ok just tested wire and when a door is open I get zero volts and when the door is closed I get 12 volts. I think I was testing the wire with the plug unplugged. Duh! Lol.
Could someone explain this negative circuit part? I am probably reading too much into it but I want to know how it works. This door ajar for example, when the door is open I get 12 volts from ground to the purple / YELLOW wire when door is closed and zero volts when door is open. I just did a little test and I grounded the purple / YELLOW wire and the door ajar light comes on but the interior lights don't come on.
So I think I should hook the purple / YELLOW wire to the green wire on the the viper, which is (-) door trigger input. So what does the (-) mean, that the door switch is a normally closed switch and that (-) input is for normally closed?

Ok, I tested the door locks and everything else before i go on to the remote start part and everything is good. I am up to the remote start part of the install and some doesn't make sense...
So here is the quick reference for the viper...
