Does anyone know how to program a transponder key to a Mitsubishi? If it matters it’s a 2001 Diamante. We have two keys and only one works, the other only starts the car for a second and then shut off. The dealer wants $250.00 to program the keys. This forum has been a great help in the past and I know it will always be. Thanks!Transponder Keys - Last Post -- posted image.

Look in your driver's manual for the car. It is outlined in there for you.

If it is anything like my ford, you can only program a new key if you have two working keys, otherwise off to the dealer you go. Good luck!

Insert first programmed key leave on for 5 seconds, turn off and
remove key.
Insert second programmed key turn on and remove within 7 seconds
Theft-alarm indicator will blink twice.
Insert new key and turn on within 7 seconds the theft-alarm
indicator will come on for about 3 seconds when the registration
of new key is complete. Repeat this step within 30 seconds for
additional keys.

Yes, you require 2 programmed keys for this to work. Otherwise you need to go to the dealer to get the TCL-1 or MUT2 device for programming .
