Fortin and DEI market some special units for this vehicle assuming a push-button system on the car.

For the 2006 DEI shows the 556u or the tbxkey. I don't see a listing for the fortin or idatalink. Looks like the push button must have started in 2007.

Also there should be 2 constants at the ignition, RED / blue and possibly RED / green or RED / black, split your 12volt constant inputs between them.

I just finished a remote starter on an 04.
For the bypass I used a BMW factory ring and a relay and valet key. Works everytime! 100%
Install was pretty simple, plenty of room to get at the ign wires.
My only problem was that the doors are unable to LOCK while the car is running. Only unlock works. Running wiring into the doors are probably the hardest part.
I initially had the starter set to unlock before remote starting and lock after its started. This was to disarm the factory alarm, then rearm it again. But I soon realized that the lock doesn't work.
I recently worked on an 99 740li, which acted the same way.

Surely when you activate the remote start the car would normally ALREADY be locked!

Incidentally, surely a 556U is cheaper than the factory ring.
