Working on assembling all the parts to install a Viper 5902 into my truck.

I was originally planning on using the DEI DLPKGM module, but I noticed that the blade modules from idatalink will fit into the port/slot in the brain of the alarm.

I would prefer to go D2D if I can though I have heard that many people do both. Do D2D and then W2W what is not working through D2D.

Is there an advantage or disadvantage of going with the idatalink blade module over the DLPKGM?

Recommendations would be appreciated as I want to have the right stuff to do a good and clean install.

I do not believe that viper is not compatible with ADS Blade. That slot was for Xpresskits CanMax400DEI that is now discontinued.
ADS Multi-modules will work d2d with that remote starter as long as they are flashed with DBI protocol.
all brands of bypasses are compatible with wire to wire
D2D can be unreliable on some vehicles and some people just chose to hard wire the product so they will not have to do it later if the d2d does not work well.
that truck i think you would be safe using d2d with the dlpkgm.

Thanks for the reply. It should not be too hard to to w2w if necessary.

So I have the DLPKGM module and want to get it flashed with the most recent firmware. I called a local shop and they said they are not allowed to do it.

Is that a rule from DEI or is that the shops choice. I don't want to buy an XK loader for this ine time need.

Where did you get your module flashed?

I think that's their policy.

It says on the back DLPKGM.

Just afraid the firmware might have been updated since this one was made. I think it has been around a little while based on the condition of the box.

It says

Hardware version : 1

Software version: 1

D/C: 8K

do not have a dlpkgm hardware version 1 around.
so i can not tell you what the latest firmware is
for hardware 2 its 3.01
do you only have one directed dealer in your town?
might what to try another shop.
you might not have a problem with that vehicle with that firmware you have.
could just try it and if you have problems flash it to the latest firmware then.

When I get to doing this it needs to be complete in a weekend so I need to be sure. That means either an XK loader or a newer module with a newer flash. This is the first time .... has put me in a bad spot.

Should I worry that the one I have is hardware version 1 or does it not matter?

with that established platorm of a vehicle 2003-2007 i do not think you have to much to worry about.
