Problem with my Alarm/Starter Kill

• Take the steering column shroud off so you can see all the wires coming down from the ignition switch.
• Look for the YELLOW wire coming from the ignition switch ( this will be a 12 -14 gauge wire )
• follow this wire to the AUTOMATE box or relays.
• IF in fact a starter kill was installed, this wire would have been cut in two halves. You will need to cut the two halves away from the relay that it is installed to and re-attach the wire with solder and tape up really good.

Another thing to look for is to make sure that the system still works. If the doors used to lock and unlock before you fiddled around with the wires and they do not any more, check to see if the ground wire popped off or if the fuses are blown on the unit.

ok... I looked... the yellow wire is not cut... it has a line attached to it... a purple line... this line goes to 2 of the Relays...... but the line is not cut in two.. it keeps on going..... i can't find any line that's completely cut at all.... they all just have a wire attached to them that runs to the Automate box and the relays...  all the other functions of the alarm and keyless entry work fine... and the car does everything except run the starter motor... everything else is exactly like normal... it may be just a CRAZY coincidence that my starter motor would die at the exact time and day that I started messing with the Automate... I've looked at all the connections and fuses and everything looks just fine... any ohter suggestions?   I'd HATE to have to pay to get it towed for something this simple... thanx for your help already

The Automate has a model number on it which can be decifered using the FCC ID code moulded into the rear of the casing, it's the last three digits that interest me.  This is probably just a keyless entry/security RF unit which controls the remote start module and normally doesn't have dip switches (depending on age). 

How many modules did you find?  There are probably three.

The module with the switches, are there 10 switches?  If so, it's possible that it's a Passlock Bypass module ( hope not ! ).

Find the starter module could be a 551 ( last three digits in FCC code).  Which model is it?  What's the date code? Look for a sticker that says OK/?? .
