The L-5's need lot's of power and large encloser. I'm not impressed with the sound quality of the 10" L-5 as compared to the 10" CVL,but they pack some bone rattling bass.

Why limit yourself to Rockford or Kicker (which IMO are pretty much the same)?

If in fact there are no limits, what product label would you suggest in the same price range?

well if you are just looking for something that is loud and could care less what it sounds like with actual music well then i would say go for the L5 but just dont expect them to last very long in the hands of a bass head who just wants to turn it up as loud as it will go.

Many brands available in this same price range. Alpine, JBL, JL Audio, Digital Designs, Diamond, Polk, Dayton, Boston Acoustics all have products in this price range I'd use before RF or Kicker. Don't limit yourself to the brands sold at Wal Mart.
