Never yet had a failed 5X unit (5702 here but we import 5704/5906).
99% of problems are poor wiring/failed to read the (admittedly obtuse*) instructions.
*And deliberately obtuse because the unit is for professional installation, not amateurs; the assumption is that one isn't a 99%.
In your case you'll get no response until the remotes are paired up.
P.S. When I'm pairing remotes for an install, I do it at home the day before on my bench, far easier.

Ive wired my Viper 5701 into my Subaru, everything is fine apart from remote start.
When i hit the button the car power turns on and off 3 times (I can see the dashboard light and fuel pump prime) But the starter does not click at all.
If i unplug the Ingnitition feed from the alarm and try remote start the starter turns over (but obviously can't run as it gets no fuel)
So both starter and ignition wires seem to be correct and work independently, just not together.
If i stall the car with the key still in and hit remote start it works... Any ideas?

Try running in Tach Mode.  Connect the Vipers' Tach Input wire to this wire at the coil pack :

Then program the Viper to Engine Checking = Tach and do the Tach Learn process.

Also connect your Parking Lights and see if the Viper is giving any Shut Down Diagnostic codes.

Soldering is fun!

i have it in tach mode taking signal from ecu and have programmed it.
Its quite odd that when you remove the ign1 and acc output lead the starter cranks over, but with them on it doesnt.

Mines exactly like that apart from i have 12v going to :
H3/2 RED / White Fused (30A) Ignition 2 / Flex relay input 87
Could this be the issue? as i only have 1 ignition on my car.

No, not if you took red, RED / white and RED / black directly from the battery, hopefully fused by the battery.

Silly question is there any dealer or service support in Kiwi land, my daughter lives in Christchurch and when I go next year, I'm thinking of bringing her one to install in her car.
