I'm preparing to install an Omega Remote Start (the little, basic version) into an 03 Dodge Ram. The owner told me that it has the panic/factory anti-theft (i.e. someone breaks a window, the horn goes off-kinda thing), so I believe it's factory-keyless entry. Am I going to run into any problems with this? I've installed the same system in a 96 Contour, and 99 Taurus, neither of which were keyless from factory, and so neither required anything. I just want to know if I'm going to have horns and everything blaring at me when I'm done.
I'm doing this one as a favor, since they couldn't find anyone to do it. I normally install stereos, but since I've done this in the other two cars (my wifes, and a friends), I got roped into this one, so I'm really a novice when it comes to THIS stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks!
I had bad credit. Anyone have any they can loan me? lol

Hope this helps you. If the truck has a factory alarm, yes you are going to have to interface your new unit to disarm the vehicles factory alarm.Check before you start working on it, lock the truck with the remote/ordoorlock switch, let the truck sit for a while, reach inside an manually unlock the door, open the door and see if the alarm sounds.

Thanks for the replies! I'll be doing this in about two and a half hours from now, hopefully in a garage, since I'm in NY *lol*. But thanks again, and if I run into anything else, I'll be back on later. Thanks!

Stupid Dodge. *lol* . I haven't figured out the source of the problem yet. When I use the remote start, it starts fine, then immediately shuts off. Three seconds later, it tries to start again, and same thing. I tried the "Smart Start" adjustments and all. Hopefully, their tech support can shed some light on this subject.

Did you properly learn the tach signal to the remote start unit ? Also, if the truck's key is a GRAY key, then you have an immobilizer key that requires bypassing.

It most probably need tach relearning, and as said by Velocity Motors if you have a grey key, then a 555u is also required to bypass the factory fuel shut off.

It's a black key, so hopefully, I won't need the unit. I haven't tried the tach-mode yet, that will be probably my next attempt. The Smart Start mode, takes the direct hook-up to the battery, and acts as a voltage sensor, just to see when the voltage changes when the vehicle starts. But maybe something in there is not working properly or something, so maybe tach mode will work better. We'll see.

hmmmmmm, I'm having the "same" exact issue with my install on my 99 Dodge.  Hopefully the answer for yours will be the same for mine :-)

The reason this is happening is because of the keyless entry. Under the dash to the right of the steering colum is a black box with 2 harnesses in it. this is the factory box. Bypass it with a wire out of the remote starter that pulses a ground when the remote start is activated. Attach a 1.5k ohm resistor to the wire and attach the other lead of the resistor to an ORANGE / green wire coming out of the box. This will solve all your problems{/p}{/TD}{/TR}{/TABLE}{div style="width:240px;border-bottom:1px solid #eeeeee;margin-top:10px;margin-bottom:0px;"}{/div}{span style="font-size:.70em;line-height:1.2em;color:#000000;"}MECP certified (If it really means anything) {BR /}Jeremy{/span}
