tach problem on 98 Malibu

The fact that you can turn the key to ON and then remote start makes me think that you are missing an ignition wire. The unit should not even try to start with the key in the on position. I shouldn't just say you missed an ignition, I am pretty sure it must be your ignition 1 wire since that is the wire that the unit monitors. if there are 12volts on the ignition wire, then the unit should either just turn on with no attempt to start, or it should do nothing. I dont have all the details so I may be wrong. What type of starter are you working with?J Rilla

if it cranked up the 1st time in tachless mode and shut off it doesnt sound like u need to run tachmode. sounds like an ignition 2 problem or a wire not secure to ignition harness from r/s.as artic said

what kind of RS do you have? Also do you have a shutdown diagnostics, if so what doe sit say? If you think it is the tach check the connection. Make sure it is good.
