origin of soundstream

i recently heard a rumour that soundstream is now made in china or korea or something...

and because of this their quality is now lower than it used to be...

does anyone have any info on wether this is true or not???

I really doubt it, If it is made in china ect. They are still keeping things in check because thier new equipment is just as good as the old stuff

I do believe that they went chapter 11 or 12, whatever the phrase for it is, about a year ago, so they may be under different ownership...

Soundstream was purchased by Epsilon Electronics in December 2001. Epsilon brands include PowerAcoustik,  Kole, Farenheit and SPL.  All their gear is manufactured overseas (some in Korea, some in China.)

Would they be allowed to stamp "made in USA" if it wasn't?  I just recently purchases their van gogh 500.4 amp to see if their quality was still as good as what it used to be.  It was stamped on the back of the amp that it was made in the usa.

Legally, "Made in the USA" means "a substantial portion" of the product either originates or is assembled in the USA or its terrirories, not necessarily that any of the inner components were actually made in the USA.  My personal opinion is their higher-end lines are still very good amps, but their entry-level gear is simply PowerAcoustic with the SoundStream name pasted on it and should be avoided.
