Picture of the top left of the dash with the plastic dash already removed.

Picture of the right door with the panel removed and ready for Dynamat Extreme.

Picture of the back right corner.  I made a flat wall out of MDF, Duraglass, and Rage Gold so it was smooth and flat.  I will be carpeting the back and wanted to have flat walls to carpet.  I still have more Dynamat to lay which I'll do this weekend since it's supposed to rain tomorrow.

Picture of the back wall with the seat and everything else removed.  I glued two MDF slots under the window to be the top part of the frame for the sub box/amp rack I will be building.

Picture of the whole dash with the covers removed again.  You can see the airbag on the right side.

Picture of the right wall.  I still have to sand it down so I can carpet it.  You can also see the top of my racing seat.  The other chair I took out while I did work.  They were both custom welded to the OEM seat brackets so they would fit in the truck.  They still slide back and forth and slant backwards too.  You can see I'm laying Dynamat everywhere, even the ceiling.  About $300+ of noiseproofing even after buying it on Ebay for half price.

Picture of the whole chair and steering wheel.  I still have to use a whole bulk pack box of Dynamat Extreme.

Picture of the dash with covers removed from the right side this time.  I haven't started cutting it yet.

Now the work is really starting.  I used a Dremel with a $15 diamond cutting blame, and a jigsaw, to start cutting off about 1.5 inches of plastic from the top of the dash that hangs over where the gauges are.  I unscrewed the headlight/foglight switch and it's hanging down so I don't cut it.  I also did not want to cut the clear plastic gauge cover because if I were to damage it, I'm sure Dodge would charge me my first born child to buy a new one!

You can see the top where I'm cutting it off.  It only took a few minutes with the dremel and jigsaw.

Picture of the work done.  The gauges are now much more visible.  You can see the air conditioning switch panel hanging off the dash.  The top of the dash is now much more flat.  I plan to make an MDF frame like Alpine did for their show car and make a fiberglass dash.  It's supposed to rain tomorrow, so I'll have to finish the Dynamat and vacuum on Saturday.  Then I can get started on my new dash.  I have an 8" monitor, PS2, and Alpine head unti to fit in there too.  Much much more to come!

Can I correct the original post?  If not, I'd like the admins to erase this whole post and I'll start over.

I don't follow why you're gluing wood to the interior... don't you want to be able to take the box/amp rack out to finish all the fiberglass etc with paint or carpet?
