04 Chevy Colorado with Keyless entry, Alarm Viper x791

Couple questions:

1) Do I have do tie the keyless entry into the Viper unit? If so how?

2) does the PXLR unit work with the Colorado?

3) How can I tie in the locks on my tonneau cover so it unlocks etc.. with the doors ?

4) Can I just use a couple diodes and isolate the hood pin switch from a hood pin switch on the tonneau cover?

use a 457G from DEI, it will take care of door trigger, lock and unlock, and passlock bypass...the PLXR is a code alarm part and its garbage just like anything else code alarm makes. diode isolation will work for the two pins and as far as the lock on the tonneau cover, it depends on what type of lock system it has

Well the x791 covers door lock/unlock trigger so no need for the 457G

the PLXR is not by Code Alarm it's from ByPassKits.com

Anyone to reply that knows what they are talking about?

No.

Yes follow the instructions for the Ion. The wire you want to interupt in the colorado is WHITE/ blue. Also you always want to try and get the latest updated version of the module when working with these types of things. I don't believe the 457G will help you with anything on this truck. And the PLXR is made by Trilogix, Code Alarm just sells them the same way DEI does. By calling the PLXR garbage you are calling the 457G garbage. Strange..

3) How can I tie in the locks on my tonneau cover so it unlocks etc.. with the doors?

I'm not real familar with tonneau covers does it have a power lock or a manual lock? If manual you wouldn't be able to tie that in without a lot of extra work, if it's power start testing wires.

Yes but you may consider isolating it from the door trigger instead or the vehice won't remote start with the tonneau cover open.

The main problem your going to run into is that there is no way to disarm the factory alarm on the colorado aside from the factory remote. If your truck has the factory alarm and it arms up it will go off when unlocking with the aftermarket remote. It will also go off when remote starting, but it will only get out about 5 soft chirps and then stop it won't go to full alarm. In that case add-on alarms/remote starts are a good option for this truck.

As far as the PLXR goes, it does work for the Colorado and you can access the wires running along side the ignition wires in the steering column. As far as the tonneau cover trigger goes, just use the Viper's trunk trigger for this. You don't need any extra diodes or anything.

For the locking and unlocking of the tonneau cover, you can tie in the driver's priority unlock to the door locks and second pulse unlock to the tonneau cover. Use the lock to lock all doors & the tonneau cover.

Velocity, I have emailed you some questions I had, many in request of more details.

Have you did remote start in a colorado? Can you tell me some good locations to grab wires etc... also spots to hide items?

i thought the colorado had databus locks like most of the new GM vehicles, in which case the 457G would be necssary to lock and unlock and it also does passlock 2. and the PLXR is made by code alarm so youre wrong there. as for your smarta** remark to someone replying who knows what theyre talking about..thats kinda funny to me since I am the security installer at a high end custom shop. i happen to think im very good with alarm installs...definitly better than you because when i ask a question on here, its a technical question where as you had to ask Jeff where to find wires haha if youre so good then you should know where to find your wires at least huh? i bet the few alarms you have done look like a birds nest with extra butt connectors and T-taps so they are super easy for a theif to stop from working. learn to be humble cause you never know who youre talking to buddy!

I don't really care if you are the end all best installer man

My statement was directed towards if their is better place to grab the wires or another location so the alarm could be easier to hide.

And real funny on your bragging rights there ;)

i never said i was the best and i never will... oh and good installers know where to hide alarm brains and good alarm installers know how to find the wires without someone telling you where they are ;-)

I know a great place to hide it but since you wanna be c**ky about it

I was wondering if it was like in some Dodges where you can grab 90% of the wires in another location because i was thinking of mounting underneath my center console as it takes 4 different types of bolts/nuts and torx head screws to remove it

Once again I know where the wires are would you like a listing so you know? Sure it could help ;)
