Sinister Cat...... can you tell me where I can get some of those chips? desperatly need them.... I just bought and tried to install the pioneer AVX-P7300DVD and the AVM-P8000R  Combination setup dvd/monitor in dash and hideaway module.... problem is that there are 2 parking brake switches one on dash unit and one on hideaway... do you know if both parking brake wires need to be connected or will one unit tell the other that the parking brake is on? I need help from anyone that can offer it email me or however it works here

Both units require the GROUND signal to operate the video portion of the features. This is a manufacturer's way to protect the consumer against vehicle collisions due to driving distractions of a monitor in the veiw of the driver & also their way of getting out of law suits from people who crash their cars because they were watching a movie while driving ! Anyway, you can look it up on eBay or you can make your own with a toggle switch.

What do you search for on ebay, also on my pioneer AVX-P7300DVD id says that the light green wire (parking brake wire) anyway it says that the wire must be connected to the power supply side of the parking break switch...... how do I get around this? thanks for any help in advance

What you have to do is to duplicate the sequence of the braking with a toggle switch as well ( not recommended ) and also depending on the unit itself you may only need to do this once everytime the car is started so you may not need to put a toggle switch for the brake input only the hand brake. For your appication, does the LIGHT GREEN wire on the Pioneer unit say that it needs a (+ ) or a ( - ) input for this wire ? If this wire requires a ( - ) input, you just get a toggle switch and ground one side of the switch and the other side of the switch will go the the hand brake input wire on the Pioneer. You now have a toggle controlled hand brake and you don't even have have it hooked up to the hand brake wire. NOW on the other hand, if the system requires you to have a ( + ) input for the hand brake, you do the same thing, except you find yourself a switched ignition source ( don't use a constant because if you do and you leave the toggle on, you MAY drain your battery over time if not in use ). Most of the bypass chips available are for the Alpine systems, I'm not sure if the bypass units are universal. You will have to check it out. Here's a search link for the bypass units on eBay: http://search-desc.ebay.com/search/search.dll?GetResult&query=Electronic+Video+Bypass&srchdesc=y&ht=1&itemtimedisp=1&st=2&category1=3270&Top10=&SortProperty=MetaEndSort

Thanks Velocity Motors I found that one on ebay that you posted and I emailed the seller to see if that unit will work for my pioneer,(waiting on reply) anyway, I am assuming its a Positive  (+) output,  the instructions say and I quote (Light Green:  Used to detect the ON/OFF status of the parking brake. This lead must be connected to the power supply side of the parking brake switch) end quote.... Does that mean that its a positive (+) side? I hooked it up to my parking brake and I can watch video with the brake on just one click (its in a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 Extended Cab) I am also putting in the matching navigation unit today from pioneer so I am waiting until I finish installing that to really worry completely about the video safety so I still have time for more information

Thanks Bill

I Dunno wha gives... is it because the master unit needs positive or does it need negative do I need to have both hooked up to ground or one to ground and one to 12V + ? hmmm I am baffled as usual thanks for all the help past present and future

Both units need to be SAFETY installed so yes, you need to attach each unit to the appropriate polarity ( + or - ) depending on what the instructions say for each unit. They will most likely be the same but make sure you read the installation manual to be sure.
