I'm trying to locate the Door & Trunk triggers on my 2003 Yaris (Echo in US).

Where can I find these wires & what colour are they?

Correct me if I'm wrong, the trigger in the Yaris is Negative trigger.

As I've got a door /trunk open indicator on the dashboard, I know I have to use Diodes, but how do I wire it up.

Any Help much appreciated.

Kind Regards

A.P.

Yes they should be a negative trigger and you should only use diodes to seperate the front door triggers.

The trunk should have it's own pin and wire.

Check out the relay section for "isolating a negative trigger" the cathode just has to be pointing the right way for it to work.

https://www.the12volt.com/diodes/diodes.asp

What I normally do is tie the ends of the diodes together and then connect them to their respective door trigger, all nicely wrapped up with heat shrink tubing.

Not sure about colors but using a DMM you should see a negative reading when the door is open and 0.00 when the door is closed. You may have to check directly at the pin, which is a pain but it's better than checking every wire in the harness's.

Good Luck!

Hi everybody!!!

I´m a new member, I´m from Mexico city but currently I study at UCSB.

Hereby I introduce my self and ask you some questions. My brother and I are considering to install an alarm in a VW golf MK2. We have put a lot of effort (we rebuild the car by our own) and money in this car , so we want to buy a reliable and affordable alarm or security system. Do you have any suggestions, brands, accesories? The items in the market are so diverse that it´s very easy to get lost. What features should I consider before buying an alarm?

I´m sorry I had to reply one of your posts, I tried to start a new topic but I do no why I couldn´t.

Thanks in advance, I really appreciate your help

hey Sungura222

the doorpin wire is negative trigger and is PINK, this wire is higher up in the driver kick panel in a 8 pin plug

as for trunk pin, it doesn't have a seperate wire for it, if, when you open the trunk and it controls the domelight then it should work in conjunction with the doorpin wire

if not then you will have to ass your own pin

sorry PINK is the domelight supervision wire

you can diode isolate the door trigger wires left front door is red, right front door is blue, left rear door is green, and the right rear door is blue

these wires are in a 30 pin plug in the top left od the fusebox

trunk pin is lt. blue and it is in the same plug as the doorpin wires
