hi,

left my car lights on in my 1993 acura integra LS and the battery died.  I replaced the battery but now the car won't start.  I think it may be caused by the alarm kill switch.  The alarm came with the car (I bought it used) and so far I have been unable to determine what brand of alarm it is.  Is there any way to check and "reactivate" the kill switch?

Thanks,

kevin

when you disarm the alarm it should disengage the starter kill relay.  Otherwise you can unplug the alarm brain and that should work.

I hope the system has a normally open kill switch otherwise if you unplug the brain then you will not start the car for sure. You will need to physically reattach the starter wire between the relay.

jeff,

you mean a normally closed starter kill relay, right?  if you were to disconnect the alarm brain with a normally closed starter relay kill, he should be able to start the vehicle.

there are some alarms that do use the "normally open" kill switch (just in case the brain happens to get unplugged, it would stay open) and close the relay while deactivated by the transmitter only.  hey Kevin... have you looked around for a relay on the starter wiring?...( if you do, disconnect it, not knowin what kind of alarm you have, does you no good.)  untill you find out, don't reconnect it.

It's better to ask a "STUPID" question...than to know a "STUPID" answer. :-)

found an 80A fuse blown...replaced it and alarm sounded...flipped kill switch and nothing happened.  talked to a friend who told me to make sure the key is in the ignition and it is turned to on.  did that, replaced the fuse, flipped the kill switch, and all is well again.  thanks for the input guys.
