I'm trying to install an easycar remote start in my grand prix. (http://www.easycaralarms.com/product.htm) <<<<this one. After a day of wizing with it I am pretty frustrated. I cannot seem to get the door trigger to work. I am almost certain I have the right wire, it is a tan wire that runs up to a heatsink near the driver kick panel. It runs right next to a blue wire which I think is the passenger door trigger. I have tried to tap into the tan wire, when I hook up the door trigger input (-) it always shows the door as open. If I hook up the (+) it always shows it as closed. I am a novice at R/S so i am probably doing something wrong, but I did try hooking up a diode to it and got the same result. Can anyone help me out here?

If your domelight comes on when the door is open, and turns off when the door is closed, you know the door switch / domelight circuit of the vehicle works.

It would make sense to assume you are on the wrong tan wire.

I used a digital multi-meter, the wire read around 12v when the door was open or closed. I thought that I might have the wrong wire but i don't see any other tan wire in the drivers kick panel and since the system said the door was open when i wired to it i figured i might have just hooked up the diode wrong or something.

Also I thought about just wiring to the dome light but it has a delay on it so I don't think that will work. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The wires you need will be neg when the door is open.

anyone know the exact location of the wire? All the diagrams say driver side kick panel and a tan wire, but this wire is the only one that seems to fit the bill. Also exactly how do I test the wiring using the multi meter? Do i just ground the neg. of the multi meter and probe for a -12v wire.

Use this diagram once you found the right wires...
