just wondering if anyone has installed a remote start/alarm on one of these yet- if so could you send us some sort of info on how it was done without diodes and lots of relays- we've got 2 coming in to us in june right after the people get them- we got the bypass of the clutch done, the starter wire is well a little more complicated from what we hear- so any help is a plus   THANKS!!!

No relays, no diodes (except to isolate the door triggers)
EVERYTHING can be had at the BCM except tach and hoodpin.
PLXR is the best bypass for this vehicle.
I just finished one and have done 12 or so of them. Easy easy cars, very similar to the Saturn Ion.

Colorado, Canyon, Ion, Pursuit, Cobalt & a few more all use the same type of system. You can easily find out by turning over the starter and holding it in the start position. If it grinds, it's got the normal Passlock system and if it doesn't grind, then it's the new system. Of course when you try this, just drag the starter for 1/2 sec to reduce the possibility of damage to the starter if it is the normal system.

jeff... are you sure about the grinding with passlock?  i have done  several cobalts and all with the passlock system and they all had anti grind (turn key after vehicle is started and it wont grind). however all of the cobalts i have done have been automatic transmission. and also if it has passlock two on it you can use a 555l o similiar module. if you need details on how to hook it up and learn it let me know via pm and ill post up.

cobalt does not use traditional passlock, it's passlock hybrid, Rcode is sent during crank cycle.
Jeff nailed it on what vehicles use it, but you can also add the malibu, g6 to that list, but they also use PK3.
And jeff, all the 2004-2005 pickups have antigrind as well, you don't have to hook up the starter wire either.

I am confused as to why you mentioned the malibu, I thought that this debate was settled. Are you saying that you need to bypass passlock on the malibu as well as pk3? If so that is false. All you need to do is bypass the pk3. Sorry for the thread jack.   As far ass the passlock hybrid issue. Yes jeff got the models correct and no you do not need the start wire to be hooked up. You can use traditional passlock modules, you just have to learn them in an odd way. You can even still use relays and a resistor to bypass during remote start still.

malibu/g6 need an Rcode to be sent on the white wire at the ign switch during crank as well as pk3.
PKG7 does both hybrid passlock and passkey bypass on those cars.
