Remote Start via remote reciever

You require a remote starter unit to accomplish this. Otherwise you will have to have your key in the ignition turned over to the ON position all the time if all you want to do is have a (-) signal to engage a relay to have the car turn over with your push button start. most RS units go for about $ 100 - $ 150 and they will integrate into your alarm without problems as long as you have an impact disable wire on the alarm .Jeff

there's a big diagram on the special apps relay page about home RS.. https://www.the12volt.com/relays/page5.aspyou don't actually need the key in if you wire it right, but if you're thinking it's simply a matter of wiring up the push-start to the alarm - it's not.  if i'm not mistaken your push-start currently requires your key to be in the ignition in the run position for it to work.  this is why you can't jsut wire the remote start to a relay.  however, it is possble it use the output from your alarm to also send a signal to the car which is the equivalent of having the key in and in the run position (basically just providing power to the ignition wire).  w/ a remote start you're gonna need to add a bunch've saftey features.  i'm assuming your car's auto?  if it's got manual transmission you better add A LOT of saftey overrides to prevent from starting in gear.  typical safety features include e-brake sensor (does not allow RS unless e-brake is engaged) and an easily accesible override (typically the brake pedal - used to shut off the RS in an emergency).  also it's not necessary to purchase a unit, it's just easier.  it saves you the hassle of wiring.  depending how skilled you are with wiring you could save a lot of money doing this yourself.  you could also mess thing up fairly thoroughly as well though..    you'll need a lot of relays but it shouldn't end up costing more than about $20 or so...anyways checkout the speciall apps page and if you understand what's going on there and got more questions feel free to ask..  i'm probably gonna do my own RS later.  i've got a manual transmission though so i'm gonna need to do a lot of safety stuff (mercury switches etc...)  plus my alarm output channels are all used up so i'm gonna hafta upgrade first.  best of luck!
