I have been having problems with my dash lights.  They dont work anymore I have checked the fuses and the wires and they are still hot.  However today when I plugged something in my lighter it would not work until I turned on my lights.  Then when I turned on the vacume (what I plugged into my lighter outlet) it would kick off my stereo for a second then it would come back on.  Can somebody please help me in getting to the bottom of the problem.

thanks

I have looked at the vehicle wiring diagrams in this site and I am a little confused with the difference from the RED / green and the GREEN/ red wires.  By looking at my vehicle it seems that these two wires goes to everything.  I have checked these wires at several different places and they are good. My dome lights along with my head and rear lights work fine.  Somebody please help me.

thanks

Check to see if the lighter wires in the back have been modified ( are you the original owner of the vehicle ?? ) The lighter is usually attached to a 12 volt ignition source not the parking light circuit so check to see if there are any wires coming off the parking light wires.

Jeff,

Ok.  I checked the wires coming from the lighter they are BROWN / white and Black.  I also found out that the GREEN/ Red wire was touching the Switched 12V+ to my stereo.  This was why there was a shortage in the stereo when I turned on the vacume.  The lighter is working fine now, however the illumination is still not working.  I have wires an extra set of GREEN/ red and RED / green just hanging behind my stereo.  I believe this may be the problem to my illumination but I am not sure where they go.  I bought the Haynes Repair Manual for my vehicle and I am still alittle confused on why it is not working.  The illumination is on one circuit and all of the GREEN/ red and RED / green wires have power.  I can only assume that this means that there is a ground break somewhere but where would I start looking.  Any more help you can give me on this would be greatly appriciated.

thanks

I would be worried about those two wires that have nothing attached to it. Look in the manual as to what they do and reconnect them.
