I found the file that has the "CAUTION: this navi is soley...." Im not sure how it is referenced with the nav screen, i think im going to try and edit what it says and burn the files that are needed to a dvd-r and see what comes up if anything, anyone know the minimum files needed to get this thing booted up? TIA

Don't bother. The file you will be editing is the navigation application firmware file. This would need to be flashed to the ROM before you would ever see a change. I wouldn't go editing a firmware image with a hex editor and flash it because one mistake and you may not be able to boot it back up. There appears to be 4 banks on the flash ROM for updates. each can be done individually.

Yeah, I would be down with paypalling a few bucks to get the right files into the hands of someone who might fix the lockout.
I also wouldnt mind getting the latest 60 map version.

CNDV60 disks work fine in an N2.  No change in bypass needed.  It will not give you enhanced ipod/xm, as that was part of the hardware change

So I'm still lost, the 60 upgrade does work on the N2 without disabling the bypass?  And does it add the new enhanced iPod/XM interface that the N3 has?

the next question i have is for the N2, using the 50mt discs, is it mandatory that the r197 jumper be installed? or just the brake wire grounded?

I think that we may be on to something with the european firmware.  I had looked over the code and most files have a list of associated files for the version sewn into them.  You may need to hex the european firmware and change this list otherwise you may get that "Please insert proper disc" message.

Yeah, if someone is able to fuse the euro firmeware with the data from the cdm60 map discs we may be able to get by the lockout issue.

Hell if he sold 6 copies he would have the software for free too right? No real need to argue with you. I understand you are unwilling to help on this in any way. My question is why you even here then? Please do me a favor and anything that is released here... DONT DOWNLOAD IT. We will burn it to a disk and sell it to you if you want to use it. I mean all the talk about being fair and all. I know I don't like to work for free. I am sure if that new disk would have locked you out, you would have been the first one here crying about it. Best part about this is I am sure the new disk will use a different format than the older version I have and when I (we) release tools to edit the files... its not gonna work for you anyways!
