Has any removed the lcd from any alpine, pio, sony, etc.

I am going to try, and I would like to hear stories from any one else.

Reason, I need all the audio and video functions on one LCD display without the unit in the dash.

Thanks, Jason

yes i built a custom dash to go around it but not that version of alpine the step up from that with the cd player in it and it was easy and looked and worked good.

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.

What was the model number of the one you used?

How far away was the reciever from the LCD?

Did u replace or extend the ribbon cable?

thanks, Jason

Question ?? Why would you spend the extra $$$ on the flip up monitors if your going to mount the CPU away from the flip up LCD ? Why not get a normal indash DVD and an separate screen ? A lot less work and in the long run alot less installation costs for the customer.

I intend to use the audio functions as my main head unit, and 1 A/V input

CD Changer controls, AM/FM,XM, And AV

Im leaving the factory unit in the car because of looks and phone intergration, and intend to flush mount the LCD on the Dash or in the headliner. Then with the pref adpt, use controls in wheel to control head unit (minus the unit). I will mount the stripped head unit under the seat or wherever the extended ribbon cable will allow

Thanks, for your Help

Jason

I'm not sure if I understnad your idea, but some newer Alpine models come with a video out plug.  This allows you to hook up another tv to see what is shown on the flip out screen, follow?  This would allow you to remote mount the head unit without ruining it.  Getting the remote to work with it would be a problem.  Does that help at all?
