I need a little help please...

I'm installing a Crimestopper 2016FM and a Directed 457GW in my 2005 Tahoe.
For the 457, the 3 pin connector says to cut the pink ignition wire to the PK/Passkey and connect the pink/black and pink wires to it.
I can't find a blackbox labled PK or Passkey anywhere under the dash or behind the heater controls. Can anyone let me know where this bugger is hidden or another connection location?
Thanks for any help,

That is because it is a GM truck. There is no PK3 on any GM truck, ever.
Actually.... if you look at the top of page 2 in the instructions..... it even LISTS what the wires do. Last time I checked, the Tahoe is not a Cadillac car. Hell, the Escalade isn't even a Cadillac....

That's what I thought too.  But after completing the hookup, I tried to "Program" the 457 by holding the button, connecting the 10 pin connector and turning the key on, nothing happened.  It never started flashing.  the old remote still controls the locks, the new remote acts like it is working but the locks never change position and when I try to remote start, the truck starts a dies instantly.  I thought it was because this other harness wires might have to be connected after all.

So, what do you think I might have done?  The truck still runs fine, but isn't interfacing with the new alarm.  On the 457, I used the black, red, grey/black, RED / white, light green, blue, violet, and the blue/white wires.  I also followed the guide found on this site which matches one from directechs.com.

Any help or thoughts would be great!

Thanks,

Delorian

The Purple on the 457 is connected to the purple wire on the Diag. plug, Right?

Sorry,

And grounded the same place the new alarm is, to a bare metal frame section by the left kick panel.

(Why is so much of the metal under the dash not treated?)

Because it's either white metal, or they really don't need to paint it..... and not the greatest grounding location.
Pull your kickpanel, ground to the actual painted steel there (scuff with sandpaper to metal first). Now, ground your 457G at the actual Diag. connector instead of with the other unit ground. This may help as well.
You have a good +12V (I'm assuming), you can also try taking the 12V for the 457 to the diag. connector (orange wire) along with the ground for the 457 (use the black on the diag. connector)
Never had a bad unit yet, nor has it ever had a problem working on a truck.

OK, Thanks for all the help Gus, I'll try those ideas when I get home tonight.

I'll post an update later,

Delorian

Got it!  You put me on the right track, thanks.

It turned out to be the connection to the in-line fuse for the 457.  I had already tapped the 12v from the diag plug for it since I tapped the violet one there, but I didn't have 12v at the in-line fuse.  When they crimped the connector on, the wire wasn't stripped back far enough.  I redid it and all is working.

Two more question though.  When I disarm, the dome light comes on, but not the parking lights.  My wife wants this option.  I checked the programming and they should be on by default.  I reprogrammed it to make sure, still no luck.  They do flash during arming and disarming so I know they are connected.  I was also dark enough so I know the photo cell didn't have anything to do with it.

Also, if it is already armed and I hit the lock again, the alarm sounds like I held a button for panic alarm.  Is that normal for Tahoe?

I install the exact same alarm in my 91 mustang (minus the 457) and all is working fine on it.

Depends on what you connected to the panic input of the 457G. If it gets a pulse.... it panics the factory alarm. If the Truck has illuminated exit, then the 457 should be able to do that. Did you connect the parking lights of the starter unit? Negative output..... grey/black at the light switch.
When you say crimp connector...... what exactly are you referring to (just curious)
