If you want you can bring it by and I can help or just get a wire that will pulse after shutdown from the alarm system and tag a door trigger(will make light shut down).   i am assuming that your friend tapped into the domelight for the door trigger but I would suggest the actual door.  Go into the drivers door and tag the RED / white wire which is the actual TRUE door trigger.  Not too familiar with Audiovox but I would think that it ignores the door trigger when shutting down for a few seconds which wont make the alarm false.

Just like enice said.
The Audiovox's pulse-after-shutdown wire is BLACK/ red.
It should be connected to the driver's door trigger wire. (Not the domelight, the wire that actually comes from the pinswitch.)

the only problem with that is if the alarm is armed when the remote start shuts down and the pulse after start wires triggers the door the alarm is going to go off.

Not entirely true....DEI alarms/remote starts actually bypass the door trigger after the remote start shuts down for a few seconds.  Some vehicles have the dome light turn on when the remote start shuts down hence the door trigger bypass for a few seconds.  That setup should not affect it and im pretty sure that Audivox systems also have that.  Chris should know for sure since he carries those lines.
