I just had a 2004 Honda Accord go off with a dealer installed alarm(seems to be prestige or code). The customer will disarm thier aftermarket alarm and then drive. Anywhere between 20 seconds to 45 seconds the aftermarket alarm will go off. The car doesnt die but the siren will keep going. Anyone have any idea on where to start with this trouble shoot.

As long as the ignition wire is seeing 12 volts the alarm should not be going off while the key is on so I would start there.

Check to see if the passive arm is not engaged.

Ask the customer if the parking lights flash at the same time. Also ask them, if they do nothing, does the sound stop in 30 seconds?

I've seen many older Audiovox systems with bad remotes. The lock/unlock button becomes super-sensitive, and gets stuck "on", and that's how you activate panic mode........so basically, the panic feature is getting activated.

If you see that the button is way, way too sensitive, there's your problem.

If it's a two-button remote, and the second button isn't used for anything, you might be able to reprogram the remote backwards, so the second button (which is in better condition) now does arm/disarm.
