I just installed an Alpine IVA-w200 and a Nesa rear monitor with DVD player in my 08 Silverado...Both operate fine except for one thing. I connected the video output off the deck to the video input of the rear monitor. The rear does not receive any kind of signal. I am completely stumped....i have triple checked everything....any ideas?
Thanks in advance
James

Nice unit. Tell me alittle about the Alpine unit.  I am assuming its a dvd player as well if it has outputs for video. I am just trying to picture how all this would be hooked up. It could be very possible that when you turn the overhead monitor on that the dvd player would also be powered. Depending on how that unit is made, the video going to the monitor is constantly being "powered" thus meaning the dvd player would need to be poweered off or taken off a certain setting. Let me try and rephrase this. Lets say you have a ps3 and a xbox 360. Both of their video outputs are connected to a Y connector which is then connected into your single TV video input. If you were to power up both units at the same time, your video would either be all screwed up, wouldnt work at all, or would ruin the TV. Dealing with your TV monitor, as soon as you power it up, that dvd player might also be powered thus sending video signal to the monitor. Now when you power up the Alpine, you are then sending 2 signals to 1 monitor. Simply disconnect the video from your alpine and just try the monitor and its dvd player. There might be a way to turn on the monitor yet keep its dvd player turned off.

Yes, the alpine w200 is a multi-media unit. Plays DVD & CD, etc...
The back of the head unit has 1 AUX input and 1 AUX output.
The rear monitor/DVD has an AUX1 input and a AUX 2 input.
My connections are from the Aux1 output(HU) to the Aux 1 input of the
Flip down.
It also has RCA's for video output but I left it unplugged.
I switched the rear monitor to both AUX1 & 2 and didn't receive
any kind of signal.
When I installed the rear monitor, I could hear a slight whistle from the DVD player, I pushed the power button and it turned it off.....I am going to try this and see if it kills out the complete unit. HOPEFULLY its like you say and the power button controls the DVD player ...... BRB
