I have a sony cdxf50m I put in my boat - nothing other than switched out the head unit. I can't get much volume before it shuts off. I've checked the speaker wires and every other wire it's connected to. Last thing I did was switch out the head unit with the exact same model and it still happens. I'm wondering if I've got a power issue of some sort? I haven't done anything with power or ground - they are the same stock ones that have been in the boat for 15 years. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!

Chances are you do have a bad power or ground connection. Boats are famous for having corroded connections.

Yep, that sounds like a bad ground to me.  I've got a 2006 Crownline that I bought new and if I turned the volume up past 20 or so it would cut out.  It ended up being a bad ground connection.

thanks for the idea, I'll dig into it. I'm unwrapping my boat in a couple weeks.
