Also, kep in mind that the mid you have picked out is a 8 ohm driver. You'll have to buy an amp rated at TWICE the 4 ohm rating that the driver is rated for... i.e. if you WANTED to design the system for 100 watts to the mid (at 4 ohms), you'll have to design now for 200 watts (at 4 ohms).
That makes certain you have enough power, otherwise you COULD conceiveably run the amp out of power without even realizing you are doing so. Remember the amp will make only one half it's 4 ohm nameplate rating.
Also, at 86dB sensitivity, you WON'T want to skimp anywhere on power. Not saying to dramatically OVERpower it, but certainly make certain you have the RMS rating available for it.
Oh, yeah, and add a tweeter, too! css sd12 - Page 2 -- posted image.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

The Fr125 has unheard of on-axis response.  However the higher frequencies drop off quickly off-axis, which is how you would be doing most of your listening in a vehicle.  You would need to add a tweeter and a proper crossover to get adequate results.  Also even though it has quite a bit of excursion, it is still a 4" driver and not designed for infinite baffle solutions.  So you would probably have to build an enclosure to get decent low frequency extension.

The plan is to fiberglass over expanding foam.. You think that would suffice, orrr no?

Well, I figured as much, what with an Re of 7 ohms.

Really? Even with a frequency responce of 65hz-20khz?

Also, does anyone know where you can get Mpyre Midwoofers? I was hoping to use them in my rear deck but apparently they don't distribute in the US anymore.

I believe they are no more.  The closest thing available right now that I know of is the CSS SDX-7.

I've used the FR125 and I agree with haem, you'll probably want a tweeter, especially in a car.

Read my comment above to see why.
Also, I may be willing to sell my pair of Mpyre mids. They are still brand new in the box.

Okay, so is this what you're trying to say:  because I'd be listening off-axis, I'll lose the highs? If that's the case I'm thinking I might as well just hold on to my Alpine tweeters.

Let's make a deal!

A frequency response of 65Hz to 20kHz ON AXIS. Steven addressed this in an earier post to the thread...
Sorry, Steven... Got to the send button late!

Okay, so I think I got it... Haem, can you still design that TL box for me? Hopefully I'll have everything ordered by Friday. Worked almost 100 hours last week, so, plenty of funds.

Sure... shouldn't be any issue. I'll give ya the numbers, but I'm not really good at "drawrin'", so I'll leave that to you!
I'll just need maximum outside dimensions.
