Hi there...  I had a couple of questions, and was wondering if someone could possibly help me out.  I'm about to buy an Alpine Type-X 12", and am trying to figure out what amp to pair it with.  So far, I'm thinking the M.A. Audio HK401SX.  Here are the questions I have:  The amp will put out 1200 watts X 1 RMS at a 1 ohm load.  Is the Type X (dual 4 ohm coils) 1 ohm stable?  The second question,  the sub is rated for 1000 watts RMS.  Will it be able to handle the 1200 watts @ 1 ohm continuously, without being damaged?

I would appreciate any help or advice.  Thank you.

What do you mean is the Type X one ohm stable? that woofer can only be wired at 2,4,or8 ohms if its a dual 4 ohm. If you wire it at 2 ohms with that amp it will see around 600watts rms so only 60% power if the amps all the way up. If it were me I would pick a different amp its nice to have some head room.

amp does not have to be set all the way up at all to be putting out maximum power.
Also..the amp will never be putting out 1200 watts rms...how much power the amp puts in depend on the gain w.r.t. the input voltage. The gain is not a volume knob.
Music is dynamic...also impedance rise makes the load seen by the amp higher than the Re of the coils wired.
I wouldn't suggest the Type X if you have an overrated 600 watts to work with. The Type R would better suit it.
Anyways the Type X can take 1200 watts easily
