Installed an Ultra Start and Bypass Kit PKUCH2X bypass in a 06 Grand Caravan about a year and a half ago. Everything worked fine until a couple of months ago. Now every once and awhile the van will not start with the key. After it sits for an hour or so it will eventually start. One time it would start with the remote start. customer said he wanted it taken out so I removed it. It still is having that same issue. He brought it  to a Dodge dealer and they said it was the remote start that created the problem. Everything is back to stock. Also the Dodge dealer said they could not fix it. Any ideas on how i can troubleshoot this problem???

Stupid dealerships !! If they weren't told that there was a remote start installed, they wouldn't have a clue about what was wrong with it, but seeing that something was installed, it's an easy scapegoat for them to use ! When it doesn't start, does the Sentry LED flash ?

No jeff there is no security light or any type of service light showing. Dealer said they got it to do the no start issue once and supposedly ran it on thier computer which showed no codes. Using the induction loop antenna I would think that would never be an issue since you are just replicating a programmed key to start. The funny thing is the starter has been in there for over 18 months and this issue just started a while ago.. I completely took everything out of the van and you cannot even tell there was anything in the van for a remote starter. So I would think there is an other issue there somewhere..

Is there not some sort of recall on the transponder receiver for these cars? I think it has something to do with the process of programming new keys into the vehicle, which in this case would be your bypass module.

If the bypass module was removed then there's no way that the Sentry system would fail. There's no way that the system would work fine for 18 months and then fail unless there were two Sentry chips in the ignition barrel at the same time which would cause a failed start and eventually render the system inoperable.

Apparently what happens after you've programmed a new key, the computer gets confused and starts to look only for the new key(s), causing problems when you use the original keys. And it somehow works for a while and the for no reason starts to give trouble. I was reading about the problem and it is not going to be a recall. What Chrysler is doing is if an owner loses a key and comes in for a new one then and only then are they changing the faulty components because, according to them, these problems only occur after programming.

Another dealer I have tried to deal with is really not being any help. This dealers service manager Earl says it is not a good idea to put starters in this vehicle, you are just asking for trouble. Although this same dealership installs Autostarts and uses the same type RF bypass. I got that infor from another guy in service. Earl Says they only install Chrysler Starters that do not have any problems. What is the big @#%*^! deal for them to evaluate the van and possible change the factory sentry box and reprogram everything. They say they have never heard of the problem about the computer eventually only recognising the newly programmed key(bypass module). I have this van scheduled for Monday for an appointment to be put on the computer, but I cant see the Earl being of any help. Any ideas???????

Well I figured out the problem on this van. It was a corroded main starter wire on the starter. Cleaned it and applied some dielectric grease and no problems since. Two Chrysler dealers could not find that.... Thanks for all you help....
