clarion vs755 remote turn on issue

So I've installed a VS755 and I'm using the remote turn on lead to energise the coil of a relay. The issue is, the moment it does this it cuts the sounds from the RCA outputs. Remove the load from remote wire and a few seconds later, audio returns. What thoughts do people have? Could the relay have too low of a resistance possibly and possibily causing a short and the unit is going into protect mode? as a side note, it doesn't stop the video..just the audio.

I have a VRX575USB but haven't tried what you said but you might have to use a driver like so:

Actually, I tried pretty much the same thing and no luck. Swapped out the unit with the last one from the soundboard and lo and behold it was a unit issue....I just always blame the unit last.
