If it won't reset with the standard method which is pressing the program button while inserting the harness, then you'll need to reflash the firmware.

I've had a few of the xk01's not program, but after the reset method, they worked fine.  Just make sure you continue to press the program button, then insert the harness, and wait until it flashes rapidly before you let go of the program button.

also, don't let go as soon as it starts flashing... hold it for about 4 seconds and you'll hear a click from the module...then it's ready to go....

The XK01 should do everything on that car. Shouldn't need the XK06 at all.
By the way, the XK06 doesn't do locks anyway. It's for transponder bypass only in newer GM cars.
It's possible that maybe having the two modules in there at once is what's not letting you program the XK01.
Also, where is the purple wire from the XK01 connected in the car?
Should be connected to the purple databus wire in the car. You could catch the data wire almost anywhere you want (it runs all over the car, to various modules), but the easiest would be right at the OBDII diagnostic plug under the dash.

Thanks for all of the help. I just took it back to the shop that sold me the starter and modules and had them install it. So, not everything works as it should..
