i am installing a security and r/s unit and am still a little confused about the resistor, relay system for the lock / unlock function is there a diagram or something that goes into more detail. any help would be appreciated.

Look in the Diagrams Section, under Door locks, Use the Dodge Caravan diagram -- the only difference is you do not need a resistor for the lock, only the unlock -- be sure to use the correct value, not the ones in the diagram. If your unit doesn't have a (-) out for doorlocks you need to use relays to make one. If you use relays you do not need the diodes.
