Hi all,

I've just completed the remote starter and alarm intallation for my 04 Acura MDX. I had the Compustart CM3000 with 2W900FM 2nd remote. Everything is working fine except I'd like to mount the Antenna on the windshield but I'm still nervous b/c of the side curtain airbag where I need to take off the side pillar to run wire from the underdash to the winshield.

Since the MDX have side curtain airbags located inside both sides of the pillar of the winshield, anybody think I should take off the pillar to run wire w/o ruinning the side airbag ?

I'd appreciate with suggestions to run wire to the antenna on the windshield.

Regards,

brhaugen

You can run the wire up the pillar BUT use caution when running the wire - don't do anything that may hamper the deployment of the airbag.

Thank you for your response,

To take off the pillar, where do you think I should start pulling off ? I can see the connection of the side pillar on the top of the winshield, maybe I should start pulling from there.

Thanks again,

Run your cables UNDER the airbag.

You're right, I'll run the cable under the airbag.  I'd like to know how to take off the pillar w/o breaking anything, should I pull the pillar from the top down ?

Thank you,

Just thought of other alternatives, either behind the instrument cluster or behind and above the passenger airbag.

Before trying to take the A-pillar off, peel away the door weatherstripping first. That'll give you a chance to peek inside, and see how the pillar is mounted to the car.
