I'm don't know about these two subs...what do you think?

Peerless XLS 12"

Exodus Audio Shiva X 12"

Which one would be the better choice..

mcben789, this is the enclosure i had in my last car. little subs, big sound. 9 JL 6W0's in a custom fiberglass enclosure. it sounds absolutely incredible and is pretty small altogether. doesnt need a ton a power either. dont have this car anymore now, and i have a different setup. interested in buying the box sub's and all?? pretty cheap. just have the box repainted what ever color you want.

The Shiva should beat the Peerless in output, extension, and sound quality. However it does require a decent sized enclosure for optimum performance. So if you can spare the extra room, I would recommend that one. I run the Tempest-X in my home theater and love it. Of course I may be a little biased.

That set-up seems pretty sweet.  Would I have good sound quality with those JL's, or would another woofer choice be good?  Space for a box is not a problem and buying a strong amp wouldn't be a problem either.

Thanks guys for all the replies.

not trying to just sell a box here but, thay sound absolutely awesome! because they are a 6" subwoofer they are fast and quick. really tight. and with 9 of them you get way huge sound. dont get me wrong its nothing like hearing you a block away or anything like that. when i built that box i wasnt wanting that by any means, i was going for sound quality more than anything else but i was astounded at the output. does just as good as any pair of 10's or a single 12. and when i opened my trunk to show people that they were 6" subs, they freaked.

Okay I have a question...

I've been looking at this thread- https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp~TID~92439~KW~how+many+subs~PN~0~TPN~1

So one Tang Band W6-1139SI 6-1/2" Subwoofer plugged into WinISD produces 91.03 dbs at 30 hz in 0.405 cubic foot box tuned to 38.33 hz with 50 watts of power.

From reading the above thread, if I receive a 3 db increase as I double the size of the cone area of the subwoofer, would I receive a 15 db increase from say 20 hz to 100 hz across the board if I add 4 more woofers?

Would it be 91 db + (3 db increase * # of woofers)--in my case 91 db + (3 db increase * 5 woofers) = 106 db's @ 30hz?

Just a little confused..sorry I keep jumping around from idea to idea in this thread.

I wouldn't really look at the spl numbers on WinISD...in real world install anywhere the response will not look anything like the graph.

yes, they are. on a side note, this box weighs a friggin ton. the front is overkill, i made it 1" thick and looking back now, that was a little overkill, but whats done is done.
