2005 caravan remote start problem

the unit evidently needs to have to tach signal reprogrammed, but as far as how to do it on that unit, i dont know. anybody else??

Most remote starters retain their tachometer settings, even if the battery was disconnected or drained. It actually sounds like more of a Sentry Key (immobilizer) problem. Are your ignition keys gray or black? If they are gray, turn the key on and look in the instrument cluster for a little red dot. You'll notice that it comes on steady for a few seconds, and then goes out. Now, remove the key and try the remote starter. Is the light still coming on solid red, or is it flashing?

well both keys we have for it are black. 

but, are they black with remotes built onto them. first thing I would do is sit in the van when you remote start it, see if the security light is flashing when it remote starts. If so then is a transponder issue.Shaughn Murley

all the new Chrysler vehicles are transponder. Like posted above, remote start the van while sitting inside and see if the theft light comes on. I would also try holding a ignition key next to the cylinder while you remote start the van. If it starts and stays running with a key in the cylinder then it's the bypass. If you don't have any of these problems when it's most likely a programming issue or the unit has lost its programming. In either case I would recommend you get in touch with a professional installer, or since it was factory installed the dealership should warranty the work preformed. Keep us updated.rtfm
